Reflections Maybe in a few years I'll look back at this and reflect. |
The Road Home The day after the show is reserved just for going home, I often take the coast route but with multiple closures that wasn't an option. One of the CHP offices that was high on my list was Fresno s that is where this car came from. They are in the process of building a new office and felt this was a good opportunity to visit the old office before they move. The detour would add to hours to what normally would be a four hour drive but it would be shorter than a six hour special trip. The drive out was smooth with just a little rain as I left the San Jose area. After a quick lunch break I made it to the office and a motor was rolling in, while I was waiting in the lobby to say hi I saw a couple people come out from the back so I went back out. It didn't take long for others to start coming out. They were quite excited to see the car knowing it was originally a Fresno car. While there they pulled a Charger out to get pictures with the two together. Before I left they asked if I could bring the car back for their Open House when they open the new office. I had a couple stops still planned for the road home and was still on schedule. The first stop was the Garr's Transmission in Paso Robles that did the rebuild on the transmission. My initial plan was just to show off the car and talk to them about an initial checkup. They had time so they took the car for a test drive and felt all was good, back at the shop they put the car on the lift to see if they could tell what might be leaking, they thought it might be from a plug so the resealed it and on I went. Just down the road was Pioneer Machine that did the engine machining. They were happy to see the car as they rarely see the cars they do engines for. From there I had a pleasant drive home. | ||
