November 14, 2009 - November 26, 2016

This car was originally purchased to build a CHP Clone. Along the way a genuine CHP car was found and this became a daily driver and ultimately sold.

The car has sold and the new buyer picked it up, by this point the dash was out of the car and wired to run without it. It didn't matter as it is going to be a parts car for another CHP restoration. Just as he was leaving it started raining.

Six and a half years later and the car is for sale. I have swapped out some parts and take others and no longer need this car. It is a strong reliable driver, 318 automatic. The front suspension was completely rebuilt and new shocks all around. Tires are relatively new.

June 13, 2015 - Polara

Once again I chose to take the Polara to the show in Cupertino a four hour drive, three hours into it I hit traffic and the temperature starts to climb so I pull off and wait. Once it cooled off and traffic started moving I got going again...

February 21, 2015 - Polara

Once again a local shop was hosting a Mopar BBQ, chose to take to Polara this time. Good time, good cars, good food, what more is there to ask.

July 26, 2014 - Polara

Found picture, no idea why it was taken.

June 1, 2014 - Polara

Recently a few things have been done that have improved the drivability greatly, the carburetor was rebuilt and the converted to electronic ignition along with upgrading the charging system, but the big one was rebuilding the suspension...

March 1, 2014 - Polara

The other day I went around the corner and water came pouring out of the heater, water not coolant. It had been raining pretty good the last few days so I thought that maybe the drains were clogged up. In looking at the parts car I could see that if the drains were...

January 20, 2014 - Polara

The other day while working on the seatbelt I took delivery of an aluminum radiator, $203 shipped from Champion. They do not list a radiator for a C-body with a 318 so I looked at different options first being the big block unit they did list...

January 18, 2014 - Polara

Some time ago I was informed that the passenger seatbelt didn’t lock so this afternoon I chose to look into it. I had a good idea that some tissue or trash had made its way into the retractor and was interfering with the mechanism...

May 2, 2010 - Polara

The other day I was at the Spring Fling car show in Van Nuys selling parts in the swap meet and I get a call from Ron, he asks if I want a real CHP 69 Polara like I need to answer. I proceeded to let him know it was all about money...

March 25, 2010 - Polara

More parts were collected, this time the lamps for the deck lights as I’m still looking for the red for the spotlight. I felt this was a good time to paint the antenna ball and spring...

March 23, 2010 - Polara

Prior to going to class I pulled the hood and fender. In class I cut away the quarters along with preparations to the fender to start the repair on it.

February 28, 2010 - Polara

Ok maybe not 2B but C4HB. After a 180 mile round trip to pick up the siren that I just got of ebay the car was overheating and rattling real bad, upon further inspection I found that one of the rocker shafts was real loose to the point of almost coming off...

February 25, 2010 - Polara

All the trim has been removed along with the bumpers, this left a couple issues. One the front turn lights are mounted to the bumper along with the license plate, a piece of aluminum was cut and mounted that would hold the original lights...

February 11, 2010 - Polara

When working on the barracuda I took a class and felt this would be a great way to get the work done on this car. The first session was about stripping trim, just about everything was pulled. The only difficult part was...

January 25, 2010 - Polara

With the front cleaned to the frame I was able to get a good look at the suspension and noticed the sway bar, I have never seen a bar mounted in that way, the bar itself hangs from a couple hangers with the ends connected to the struts...

January 17, 2010 - Polara

I set out to get the parts car torn down as much as I could. I started in on the front bagging and tagging everything as if it was a restoration, I might just need that stuff later. With the front pretty much down to the frame it started to rain so I called it a day.

January 9, 2010 - Polara

Recently I spotted a 4-door hardtop on Craiglist in the Sacramento area that would make a perfect parts car. The listing showed original black plates and a factory 8-trac player, all gone when I got there. The car was loaded and we headed home...

December 28, 2009 - Polara

Thought I’d clean out the trunk and get a good look at it. Overall it is quite nice, trunk mat is in pretty good shape but will need to be replaces as I will need to relocate the spare to match the CHP spec.

December 17, 2009 - Polara

Even before I got the car I had already started to look for some of the part I thought I needed. An antenna mount and a pair of deck lights were acquired. I’m not sure I’ll end up keeping the deck lights as they are chrome and I need them to be painted...

November 23, 2009 - Polara

I pulled the back seat out with hopes of finding the broadcast sheet but all I found was trash, cleaned it up and put the seat back in.

November 21, 2009 - Polara

As always I like to take a series of pictures to show the car as I fist received it, before shots if you will. Even after a close inspection I feel the rust repair shouldn’t be that much of an issue. Both lower quarters inside and out along with the lower part of the fenders...

November 14, 2009 - Polara

Back from my Europe trip I contacted the seller to see if the car was still available and it was. The only questions I had were Is it highway worthy? Will it make the drive to California? And will you pick me up at the airport.

November 1, 2009 - Polara

In April of 2009 I was done with the Barracuda and set out to pursue a vintage CHP car. I was open to different years but if I found a 69 four-door sedan first I would get it. The first car that showed up was a civilian Polara in Iowa...
