Distributor Swap
I went to storage to see what I had; this build will also include restoring under the hood. I had a fan, multiple balancers and a box of hardware along with other brackets etc. The first thing people say when I tell them it is a slant 6 is there is so much room to work, till I show them where everything is. Knowing nothing about the six I chose to log each plug wire as I took them off. I then placed tape to note where the advance was and the rotor direction, then the timing reference. The new distributor was put in matching all the reference marks and pictures, plug wire put back on and it fired right up. Set the timing and called it done. One of the things I noticed was a questionable repair done on the harness at the ballast resistor. The harness was opened up exposing a bare wire, somewhere back in time the insulation was probably burnt off. I ran it back a little more and spliced in some new wire and replaced a few terminals. | |
