Crackle pop flash!
Do to the electrical issue (likely a bad fuel gauge) I fried the dash circuit board. Good thing I already had a replacement board so I transferred the pigtail to the new board and looked into potential other causes. One thing that came up was the potential for the solder joints on the pigtail too short to the dash housing so I cut a piece of acetate and taped it in place. The post on the gauge were insulated to insure there was no contact as they passed through the housing. The gauges were checked to insure they were seated properly. Lastly all the post were insulated to protect from incidental contact and eliminate to potential to hookup the ammeter wires on the wrong post along with marking the ammeter posts. | |
