Reflections

I had the money, should have taken the time and got tires.

Acquisition

November 14, 2009

Back from my Europe trip I contacted the seller to see if the car was still available and it was. The only questions I had were Is it highway worthy? Will it make the drive to California? And will you pick me up at the airport.

Knowing snow was on its way I purchased a ticket and was on my way trying to beat the snow. While in the air coming in to Butte I noticed that he highway looked clear as it did on the way to the car from the airport. Paid, got the key and it fired right up but I noticed that the tires looked a little worn. The first challenge was to get to the street on the snow, a little sliding and I was there and on my way. First in to town for some basic supplies a couple pictures and I was on my way.

The first 120 miles or so were fine, the right lane was clear and well used. The next 80 or so the snow just got worse as I came into Idaho Falls I almost called it a night but was afraid it would just be worse the next day, the problem was the further south I went the worse it got. I was in luck Pocatello was about an hour away and I could turn west at that point. I went through a few towns before I reached Pocatello and each time I was ready to park it. Once I reached Pocatello I headed west and almost instantly the snow disappeared, three hours later I was in Wells for the night. From there the 14 hours on the second day were a piece of cake.
