Check that box done!

March 18, 2012

WOW, the idea that I can just about call this done is amazing. I still have some fill work to finish and edges to cleanup but the welding, grinding, cutting it out doing over is done. It is hard to believe this is the same car that rolled into this garage 19 months ago.

I still have the lower quarters to patch and some additional work in the trunk, all of which I should have done this week.

Started digging into the quarters, literally. At first it was sort of a connect the dots and as I was working on different spots the opening ended up bigger (I think this is the extent). There are a couple of holes on the wheel side in this area that will need to be address first as it is virtually impossible to work from within the wheel well. I have already taken care of the lower of the two holes and hope to have this side done this week.

Well just when you think you have it done problems surface. I had the patch done but needed to take care of a few pin holes. Well they grew faster than I could fill them so I added a patch, no good it still grew. Finally I had to cut all the work out and find good metal, a patch was cut from an old fender and the contour fit perfectly. With this side closed up I hope the other side goes better.
